Wrapping Up In Zambia

Hi again!

We wanted to update everyone on what’s been going on since we’ve been together again. On Friday morning Jonathan, the Cromer’s son, and I, travelled to Choma where we caught the same bus on which Tyler was traveling. It was very exciting to see each other and exchange our stories about how we had seen God work in both the lives of Zambians and that of ourselves.

At three o’clock we arrived in Livingstone where Ms. Janet picked us up and took us to our hotel, ZigZag, which, yes Eric, had wonderful coffee if you enjoy straight shots of espresso ;). Ms. Janet had arranged an amazing couple of days for us in Livingstone. On Saturday Jonathan, Tyler, and I visited Victoria Falls where we took lots of pictures and got completely drenched. I think the favorite part for both of us was when we climbed down to what is called the “boiling pot” at the bottom of the falls. We also saw many baboons!

That evening we took a sunset cruise on the Chobe River with some of Ms. Janet’s friends from Michigan who were also here for missions. On the cruise we saw several hippos and a beautiful sunset. On Sunday, we got up super early to go to Botswana for our safari. After passing through immigration and crossing the Zambezi River to get into Botswana, we traveled to the game park and on the way saw a herd of elephants cross the street in front of us. I’d say that was a pretty good start! When we got to the game park, we saw elephants, hippos, antelope-looking-things (Ha!), giraffes, and mongooses, as well as many beautiful birds such as the fish eagle and the Egyptian goose. At 12:30 we arrived at a resort where we were served lunch, and several monkeys took the liberty of joining us!

After lunch, we went on the cruise part of the safari and saw buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles. But my favorite part was seeing dozens of elephants swim across the river! In fact, the picture we posted on the blog was taken as we watched this happen. All in all the safari was amazing and we were so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it, and even more grateful that we did not run into one single snake!

On Monday we travelled to Zimba, where Janet lives, and were given a tour of the village by a young girl named Kapree who is here for the Peace Corps. Janet, Tyler, and I spent the night cooking lasagna together and sharing our different stories. Janet has been a wonderful host. She has made us feel right at home and has constantly encouraged us about our ministry here in Zambia. Tomorrow, the three of us will be traveling to Lusaka where we will spend the night and maybe do some last minute market shopping before we fly home Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Thank you so much for your prayers and please continue to pray for our personal walks and for traveling safety. And for Janet, we should all thank God for the way he is using her here and pray that her ministry continues to be successful in the furthering of God’s kingdom. We will be home Saturday and can’t wait to see you!!

Love, Jackie
