China Team - Friday

Dear readers,

At this point we've completed Friday and are down to the one more day.  Today our team concentrated on activities with the children.  We had more art activities, kindermusic, guitar and piano lessons, and one-on-one time.  It's not possible to convey what really happened in words, but you should see the pictures and videos.  Most of the team participated in the music program with the kids. We all participated in the "Hokey Pokey" numerous times.  We were looking pretty ridiculous, but the kids were very entertained by what they saw.

Around lunch time, several of the team members headed to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items.  It you haven't heard, Wal-Mart's in China aren't quite what you would expect.  For example, how often do you see live turtles and eels in the meat section.  While some cased Wal-Mart for items of interest, John and Stan headed for the electronics/computer market in Langfang.  It was equally hard to describe.  It was something like a crafts fair on steroids.  Dozens and dozens of venders occupied 10x10 booths selling every kind of electronic item you can imagine.  We carried a broken computer in with us (due to difficulty in translation), purchased replacement parts, had them installed and tested for $30. 

Yesterday, two team members shared their personal stories.  We were so moved by how God has protected and sustained them through tremendous difficulty.  It was one more step in drawing us together as family.  We have developed an incredible bond for each other in such a short time.  One team member committed that they can't wait to get back to church, now that they have such close friendships with others.

We ended the night with a trip to "Garden Restaurant".  Just another amazing experience in Chinese dining.  Although no one ordered from the live wells, we were all entertained and had more wonderful food than we could ever eat.

Tomorrow will be our last day and we expect to spend every possible moment with the kids.  Our typical discussions include children that we have encountered and how we might be able to bring them home.
