Second Update from Eastern Europe
From Russia With Love,
Since my last update we have been extremely busy. Sunday the 4th was spent attending church services at First Riga United Methodist Church. Rev. Gita Mednis was stuck in Oslo where she had been attending a seminar. Her return flight had been canceled in .January with out notification. Everyone is having problems with the airlines .
After church we headed for Liepa, Latvia and had a wonderful seminar that evening. We have a wonderful story to tell of a young man who attended the seminar intoxicated. We were able to persuade to stay as he was leaving when the seminar started. Spent the night at the Salvation Army Camp in Liepa and departed for Tartu, Estonia the next morning.
After check in and lunch, George, Charles and myself went to the state prison and had a mini-seminar which was very seccessful. Those who had an alcohol problem when they went in, now realize they can not return to drinking when they get out of prison.
Tuesday morning Donna, John, Charles and Bob departed for Pskov and arrived at 1PM. Wednesday we visited the Pskov Region Baby Orphanage that was very moving. WE have many pictures. We took $300 worth of Huggies, hand knitted caps from the ladies at Towne Village and over the counter childrens medicine. All was greatly appreciated.
Yesterday was International Womens Day and we did some sight-seeing and had dinner at Lara's house. Today we are visiting eight and tenth graders at Galya's school talking about the evils of addiction. God's hand is in our trip and has been revealed many times. We will share with you all our stories when we return.
Grace and peace,
Bob
