Wednesday Update from Tiberias
This morning we checked out of the Bible College Guest House and headed off to the Dead Sea. Our first stop was Masada, where 960 Jews held off Roman soldiers for over 3 years before committing mass suicide as the troops breached the high mountain fortress.
We next traveled to En Gedi, the site of David cutting off the corner of Saul's robe (see 1 Samuel 24:1-22). We were literally standing at what the bible calls the "Crags of the Wild Goats" where this scene played out.
Driving along the Dead Sea, we traveled to Jerico for a quick bite of lunch where we saw the excavation of the original city and the traditional site of Christ's temptation up on the nearby mountainside.
We continued on through Bet She'an (Beth Shan) which was where Saul's body was put on display after he killed himself in battle (see 1 Samuel 31:1-13).
We are now in our hotel in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee, which will be our base for travel over the next two days. Everyone is still healthy and doing well.
Blessings!
