Zambia Team Blog Entry 1

Sorry we have not been able to update the blog before now. This is our first time in Zambia to have internet access and we are now sitting at an outdoor cafe in Lusaka for a late breakfast. (By the way, it is Wednesday, late morning.)The weather is beautiful, just as it has been since we arrived. You will glad to know that today is World Book and Copyright Day, which is being celebrated, band and all, just across the way.

The flight to Jo-burg was terribly long, but we made it fine, though we didn't sleep much. We made it easily into Livingstone Sunday, except Albert's luggage did not arrive. He handled it with grace and we scheduled pick up for the next day. Janet (who has been more than wonderful) met us at the airport and has been taking care of us since. Monday evening was relaxing. We cruised "the mighty Zambezi" as it is called and saw crocs, an elephant and later a Hippo after we had tea.

Tuesday was a long, busy, fun day. We had time to drive through an wildlife park, see the Falls, and make a quick run through the local market. Thankfully, Albert's luggage arrived and we began the long drive to Lusaka. We feel like we have experienced Zambia now that have traveled the road from Livingtone to Zimba. Though it is the key highway through Zambia, cars can get lost in the potholes. If you want your road fixed, make sure you support the correct political party. The ride was worth it to see Janet's home and the most staf filled sky one can imagine. We had another five hours to Lusaka and arrived after midnight at the guest house. I believe last night was our best night of sleep after such a long day.

We have learned a few things since we left Memphis: Eric REALLY love coffee; 18 hours on a plane is not fun; we all snore, though Albert may have kept the monkeys awake in Livingtone; there are Hippos in the wild; TIA (This is Africa), so one goes with the flow; poverty is the same all over the world, but people are very enterprising; Zambians are wonderful, lovely people; a road without potholes is a wonderful thing; we are thrilled to have Janet leading us through the country; Africa is huge and beautiful; and we all love to eat!

The Pilgrim Wesleyan Church leaders are gathering today for the conference that begins tomorrow. We are taking the day to focus and prepare for our sessions. Please be in prayer for the conference, the PWC leaders and our teaching sessions. Blessings .... until next time.

Adam, Albert and Eric

So far the trip has been fun and now it is time to do the business for which we came. Please pray for the conference that starts tomorrow. We are a bit weary after several days of travel, so please pray also that we get rest today and have opportunity to prepare for tomorrow.
